Question 1122948: So this is literal equations, i didnt know what catagory to put this question under so I put it in here.
The problem is y=3/5u +5 Solve for u. I have tried to subtract the 5 first, getting y-5 = 3/5u, then multiplying 5u on both sides, resulting in 5uy-5=3. I got stuck here not knowing what to do, or if this was the right way to do this. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.

The correct answer depends on where the "u" is.
Is it ?
Since you said it's the latter, we'll pick up where you left off.
You have: 5uy - 5 = 3 <===== This is wrong!
Let's go back some more to:
Multiplying the above by LCD, 5u will give you: 5uy - 25u = 3, and NOT 5uy - 5 = 3. Understand?
5uy - 25u = 3
