Question 1112206: I am having trouble with my homework and need some help understanding it.
The surface S of a collies body in square meters can be modeled by S(w)=1/9W^2/3 Where W is the dogs weight in kilograms.
A. Evaluate and interpret S(26) using a complete sentence with units.
B. Approximate the weight of a collie whose surface area is 1.1 square meters (Round to Hundredths)

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

S(26)= (1/9) * 8.77S(26) = 0.98 m^2
area = 1.1
1.1 =(1/9) w^(2/3)
9*1.1 = w^(2/3)
9.9 = w^(2/3)
9.9^(3/2) =w
w=31.24 kg
