Question 1101926: Floyd bought 3 times as many 12 cent stamps as he did 10 cent stamps and 6 more 10 cent stamps than he did 15 cent stamps. How many of each kind of stamp did he buy with $4.26?
I need it with just one variable though and a LET Statement would be nice. Thank you!
Answer by KMST(5328) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There has to be a typo somewhere,
because the numbers in the problem
make the number of 15 cent stamps Floyd bought ,
and it should be a whole number, like 2 or 3.
This is how you would solve it:
LET be the number of 15 cent stamps Floyd bought.
Then,
= number of 10 cent stamps Floyd bought, and
= number of 10 cent stamps Floyd bought.
Calculating prices in cents.
There is no integer solution to that.
