Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When? = time = x
Mandy: 20x
Liz: 30(x-1)
20x = 30(x-1)
20x = 30x-30 add 30 and subtract 20x on both sides:
10x = 30
x = 3 they will meet 3 hours after Mandy left, 2 hours after Liz left
-------------------------------------
Check:
20(3) = 60
30(3-1) = 60 Correct
P.S.: this is another answer, in case you need it: they meet when each has traveled 60 miles
