Question 103207: How do you solve?

Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3/(x-1)-6/(x^2-1)=1
3/(x-1)-6/(x-1)(x+1)=1
[3(x+1)-6]/(x+1)(x-1)=1
(3x+3-6)/(x=1)(x-1)=1
(3x-3)/(x+1)(x-1)=1
3(x-1)/(x+1)(x-1)=1 now cancel out the (x-1) tyerms.
3/(x+1)=1 now cross multiply.
x+1=3
x=3-1
x=2 answer.
proof
3/(2-1)-6/(2^2-1)=1
3/1-6/3=1
3-2=1
1=1
