2y + 4 + y = 19 - 2y - 3)

Combine like terms on both sides:
3y + 4 = 16 - 2y

We want to perform algebra operations to isolate y on the left and numbers on the right.
Add 2y to both sides and you have:
3y + 2y + 4 = 16

Add the y's and subtract 4 from both sides:
5y = 16 - 4
