Can anyone explain the mathematical rule behind this derivation:
x^2 is proportional to Y^3
so
x is proportional to Y^3/2.
In the above rule the exponent 2 is being moved from one side of the derivation to the other and becomes 3/2.How?

Question 19281: How would I write this using positive exponents?
a^-2bc^-5/a^5bc^-4
I know that if you have a negative exponent, in order to make it positive you write it as a fraction. Example a^-n =1/a^n
I have come up with the following answer, but don't think it is correct. Please help!Thank you!

Question 20006: Im having a hard time figuring out the answer to this well how they got it.5 to the negative 1 plus 3 to the negative 1 power the answer is 8/15 I dont see that as beening right. I took the problem and made it a fraction to each side and still I dont see how the answer came about

Question 18962: v^(-3) c^(-4)[v^4c^(-2)]^3
all the letter have negative exponents("v" negative exponent 3 "c"negative exponent4...) I dont know if I have to multiply the parentesis times exponent 3 or the parenthesis times the outside letters and then the exponent 3. help!
