Question 202539: I have to quick questions on exponents
I basically have to simplify them
1. [(9a^3)/(10b^4)]^-2
I came up with:
(9^-2*a^3*-2)/(10^-2b^4*-2)
(81a^6)/(100b^8)
Is that simplified or is there more to do?
2.(6x^5y^2z^-4)(4x^-2y^4z^-1)
I got= 6x^5y^2z^-4/4x^-2y^4z^-1
Am I suppose to flip the equation to get rid of the negative exponents are do I just add them together they way they are?
(u^5z^8)/(z^-5u^-4)
In this one too I flip the equation to: Z^5u^4/u^5z^8 and i got u^9z^13
Was I suppose to flip it?

Question 202817: To whomever decides to help me.
I have been working on this problem ALL DAY LONG! Here it is:
((x+2)*(1/2)(x+1)^(-1/2)-(x+1)^(1/2))/(x+2)^(2).
I have gotten several different answers. I am unsure of what I am doing wrong. At first I tried bringing down the negative exponent and then canceling out, I got (-1/2)/(x+2)but I don't think that it is correct. All the other sulutions are a bunch of mumble jumbles. I thought maybe I should convert into rational terms but I ended with an imaginary number (SQRT of 1/2) in the domnimator but I don't think that is correct at all.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you soooooo muchs!
Maggie

Question 203189: To express 20 as a sum of different powers of 2, we would write 20 = 24 + 22. The sum of the exponents of these powers is 4 + 2 = 6. If 400 were expressed as a sum of at least two distinct powers of 2, what would be the least possible sum of
the exponents of these powers?
