I have figured out that 5/16 equals .3125, but i am not sure if I am on the right track. Please help me out. Thanks!

Your computer does have a square root format, but the keyboard doesn't. In order to compensate, the keyboard designer had made it that pressing ALT + 251 with the numbers in the function keys known as number locks.

Now to solve your problem:

Since the square root of 16 is divisible by 4, you do not have to multiply the conjugate.

This is the final solution possible without using a calculator. Otherwise...

You're not on the right track however as square root and division are exactly the same.

You now need to compute the square root of , which is: .
However, you didn't have to compute first. You could've easily used a calculator to calculate ,
which would give you the same result.
