Question 864530: Exponential Equations Not Requiring Logarithms.
Solve each equation.
(243)^k+2*(9)^2k-1 = 9
I tried/did the following:
(3)^5*(3)^2 = (3)^2 same base then
(3)^5(k+2)*(3)^2(2k-1)=3^2
5k+10+4k-2-2=0 add 2 to both sides
11k=2 -10 +2
k= -6/11
The correct answer is -2/3
Thank you very much!

You were so close!
I pick up from your calculations
5k+10+4k-2-2=0
9k + 6 = 0
k = -6/9
k = -2/3
