Assume the problem is

y has to equal 1, but here is the procedure
When you multiply like terms, you add the exponents, so you have

Divide both sides by y^2
= 1
When you divide like terms, you subtract the dividing exponet
= 1
Find the 9th root of both sides
y =
y = 1
