Question 715109: Simplify. Your answer should contain only positive exponents with no fractional exponents in the denominator.
(2x^(-7/4)) / (4x^(4/3))
I know how to solve problems like this, but I don't know what to do when it says no fractional exponents in the denominator, and when given that instruction there is almost always fractions in the denominator.

Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x^(-7/4)/4x^(4/3)
= x^(-7/4)/2x^(4/3)
= x^(-21/12)/2x^(16/12)
Multiply by x^(21/12)
= 1/2x^(37/12)
= 1/2x^3*x^(1/12)
Multiply by x^(11/12)
= x^(11/12)/2x^4
