The question is not correct.
IF WE
Let x=the first number
then x+1= the second number and x+2 =the third number
then x+x+1+x+2=42
combine terms
3x+2=42
subtract 2 from both sides of the equation
3x=40
THEN
x=13.33333 not a whole number.
