(a) to the 1/3 power, (a) to the 4/3 power, (a) to the 1/2 power.
First I wrote them all in Radical Form and tried to find the cube root of each of them, but I don't understand what to do.

First, fractional exponents are a short-hand method of writing radicals raised to some power:
For example in a^1/3:
a = the base
The numerator = the power that a is raised to
The denominator = the root of the base
.
So, a is the base, 1 is the power, and 3 is the third root of a:
(cube root of a)^1
(cube root of a)^4
(square root of a)^1
