Question 430427: (3500)*(1.08)^X=14000*(1.03)^X
can you please explain how to solve it? Thanks!

Answer by lwsshak3(11628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(3500)*(1.08)^X=14000*(1.03)^X
..
(1.08)^x/(1.03)^x=14000/3500=4
(1.08/1.03)^x=4
take logs of both sides
xlog(1.08/1.03)=log4
x(log1.08-log1.03)=log4
x=log4/(log1.08-log1.03)=29.2453..
