Question 373441: The number of bacteria cells in a biology experiment doubles every hour. After 1 hour there are 2 cells, after 2 hours there are 2x2 (or 4) cells, after 3 hours there are 2x2x2 (or 8) cells, and so on.
The first part of the question is: Use exponents to write the number of cells after each of the first 10 hours of the experiment. We came up with 2^1, 2^2, 2^3 and so on up to 2^10.
The second part of the question is: Write an expression in exponential notation for the number of cells after 50 hours. The best we can come up with is 1 * 2^50. Is this correct?

Yes, your analysis looks correct...no need to put "one times two to the fiftieth"...2^50 is perfectly fine...
