Question 32253: need to solve for an "X" exponent: 2 (x power) = 1/4
I know the answer but dont know how to show it by solving it algebracially
Answer by ikdeep(226) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 (x power) = 1/4
2^x = (1/2)^2.........here ^2 and ^x means power
now, take reciprocal or RHS ,,,,and you would know that when we take reciprocal,,the sign of its power changes ,,,so here we get...
2^x = (2)^-2
as the bases are same so they would be eliminated and we get......
x = -2
Now if you want to verify you answer ,,,you can put the values of x in the given equation and if you get LHS = RHS,,,this means that you answer is correct..
Hope this will help you
