FOIL method: First, Outside, Inside, Last
(11x + 3y)(x + 4y)
Step 1: Multiply First-- (11x)(x)=
Step 2: Multiply Outside-- (11x)(4y)= 44xy
Step 3: Multiply Inside-- (3y)(x)= 3xy
Step 4: Multiply Last-- (3y)(4y)= 12y
Step 5: Combine-- + 44xy + 3xy + 12y = + 47xy + 12y
Answer: + 47xy + 12y
