Question 18962: v^(-3) c^(-4)[v^4c^(-2)]^3
all the letter have negative exponents("v" negative exponent 3 "c"negative exponent4...) I dont know if I have to multiply the parentesis times exponent 3 or the parenthesis times the outside letters and then the exponent 3. help!

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The negative exponent means "invert". That causes factors
in the numerator to go to the denominator and factors in
the denominator to go to the numerator.
First, work on the parenthesis as follows:
v^(-3)c^(-4)[v^12c^(-6)]
Now add exponents relating to the same base as follows:
v^(-3+12)c^(-4+-6)]
Simplify:
v^9 c^-10 v^9/c^10
