Victor owned 5/6 of a family business. He sold 2/7 of the busniess to his daughter. What portion of the business does he still own?
.
I'm going to assume he sold 2/7 th of the portion he owned and NOT 2/7 th of the entire business. Correct me if I'm wrong.
.
Mathematically:
5/6 - (2/7 * 5/6)
= 5/6 - 10/42
= 35/42 - 10/42
= 25/42 (this is the portion he still owns)
