10^3 + 10^4 = 1,000 + 10,000 = 11,000.

not sure if that's what you're looking for, but that's the way to show it in standard form.

11,000 can also be shown as 11 * 10^3.

11,000 can also be shown as 1.1 * 10^4.

in that form, it's still considered to be one number, but in scientific form rather than standard form.

there are 3 main forms to express a number.

standard form.
scientific form.
engineering form.

the standard form of a number is just the number.

11,000 is the number in standard form.

the scientific form has one digit before the decimal point and the rest of the digits after the decimal point.

11, 000 is equal to 1.1 * 10^4 in scientific form.

the engineering form has up to 3 digits before the dcimal point and the rest of the digits after the decimal point.
\the multiplication is done in groups of 10 with exponents of multiples of 3.

11,000 is equal to 11 * 10^3 in engineering form.

here's a calculator that does the conversions for you.

https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/math/scientific-notation-converter.php

just enter a number in standard form and it will do the conversions for you.

a strict interpretation of one number as being a single number without being multiplied by another number, than 11,000 would have to be your answer.

note that:

10^3 can be shown as 1 * 10^3.
10^4 can be shown as 10 * 10^3.

add them together and you get 1 * 10^3 + 10 * 10^3.
factor out the 10^3 and you get (1 + 10) * 10^3.
combine like terms and you get 11 * 10^3.

11 * 10^3 is equal to 11,000, as we showed up on top.
