(y-(2/y+1))/(1-(2/y+1))
.
I think you mean this:
(y-(2/(y+1)))/(1-(2/(y+1)))
Multiply by (y+1)/(y+1):
(y-(2/(y+1)))(y+1)/(1-(2/(y+1)))(y+1)
(y(y+1)-2)/((y+1)-2)
(y^2+y-2)/(y+1-2)
(y^2+y-2)/(y-1)
factoring the numerator:
(y+2)(y-1)/(y-1)
canceling like-terms:
y+2
