Question 246820: I am hoping I am placing this is the correct category as I did not see one for rational expressions and equations.
I know this seems fairly simple but for some reason I am extrremly confused ....i would really appreciate some help and explantion as to what i might be doing wrong.....
1) x^5-4x^3, x^3+4x^2+4x Instructions state to find LCM
My answer: 2*2*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x, 2*2*2*2*x*x*x*x*x*x
=2*2*2*2*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x
answer: 16x^8
2)x^2/x-7 + 49/7-x
answer: 49x^2 (I believe x-7 and 7-x cancel out. I am very confused though and when looking at the other examples in the book and doing the other exercises it does not look like my answers are correct. I am unsure as to where exactly I am going wrong or what I am simply not getting. Thank you so much for any guidance you can give me.....I truly appreciate it.

Question 247343: I was given this problem and now I am at a lost.
The width of a retangle is 5 meters lass than twice its length. If it's area is 88 square meters, find the dimensions of the rectangle. I know that A= L * W and the equation is W=2L-5 But I can't get any farther than that to answer the question. Thanks for your help.

Question 248495: i need the derivative of
im not sure if that came out right with symbols, so i'm going to put it into mathematical terms as well...
(2x squared - 10) divided by (x squared + 5) squared.
i came up with a pretty crazy answer, and have no clue if it's right, it seems way too 'out there' to be correct...
am i anywhere close?

there must be some way for the derivative to either equal 0 or be undefined, and none have my answers have allowed for this. please help!
