SORRY I COPIED THE PROBLEM ALL WRONG:
ILL TRY AGAIN:
7/12-6/8 NOW CHANGE BOTH FRACTIONS SO THEY HAVE A COMMON DENOMINATOR THUS:
WE GET THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR BY MULTIPLYING THE LARGETS DENOMINATOR BY 2 & SEE IF THE OTHER DENOMINATOR DIVIDES EVENLY INTO IT THUS:
2*12/8=24/8=3 THEREFOR 24 IS A COMMON DENOMINATOR.
7/12=X/24 CROSS MULTIPLY:
12X=7*24
12X=168
X=168/12
X=14 THEN:
7/12=14/24 IS THE SAME AS 7/12
------------
6/8=X/24 CROSS MULTIPLY.
8X=6*24
8X=144
X=144/8
X=18 THEN:
6/8=18/24 IS THE SAME AS 6/8
NOW WE CAN SUBTRACT THESE FRACTIONS THUS:
14/24-18/24=-4/24 NOW REDUCE BY DIVIDING BY 4/4=-1/6
