Same step as for positive fractions.
-7/10 x 14/35
step 1: multiply your numerators and denominators by each other:
-7 x 14 and 10 x 35
gives -98 and 350
so you have -98/350
Step 2: now reduce to lowest common denominator:
-98 /2 and 350 / 2
gives you your final answer of -49/175
you can check by dividing the fractions into decimals.. so -7/10 is -0.7, and 14/35 is 0.4
SO multiply -0.7 x 0.4 = -0.28.. check -49/175 = -0.28
remember when you multiply a - by a +, you always get a - number
when you multiply a + by a +, you have a + number.
when you multiply a - by a - you have a positive number!!
