I'm only a student, but I know the answer.

Answer:
.
2x^2
____
y^6
.
.
.
Solution:
.
.
1st rewrite the equation as follows:
.
.
xx y * 18xxxx yy
--------------------
3yyy * 3xxx*x yyyyyy
.
.
(Notice I substituted the number on the exponents with x’s or y’s on the line)
.
2nd multiply the coefficient’s (constant terms) (3*3), then divide the top coefficient (18) by the new bottom coefficient (9). Your answer should be 2.
.
Move the coefficient’s over to the left side of the fraction to make it easier.
.
3rd now place the 2 on top of the line of your fraction. You should only have x’s and y’s on both the top and bottom of your fraction. You can begin lining out each “x” and “y” on top of the line that has a corresponding “x” or “y” below the line. (i.e. there are 6 “x’s” on top, but only 4 “x’s” on the bottom. You should lineout 4 “x’s” from the top and all 4 “x’s” on the bottom. Leaving 2 “x’s” on the top. Next do the same for the “y’s”, you should have lined-out all 3 “y’s” on the top and 3 “y’s” from the bottom. Leaving you with 6 “y’s” on the bottom of the fraction.
.
4th Count your remaining x’s and y’s on the top line first – it should read x^2 since all the “y’s” were eliminated. Next do the same for the bottom – it should read y^6.
.
I hope this information helped.
.
Good luck!
