Question 554674: I am trying to understand a problem, 6(3rd power) multiplyed by 6(negative 2 power), which i get 6 by adding the exponents (3+-2) and get 1, so 6x1=6, but then I try to find it a way my math book tells me to, and i do 6x6x6 and get 216, then do the same for the other and i get -36. But 216x-36 DOES NOT EQUAL 6! what am i doing wrong?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6^(-2) = 1/(6^2) = 1/36
NOT
6^(-2) = -36 <<<--- This is INCORRECT
