Question 38076: Having trouble with this one
Suppose you deposit $20,000 for 3 years at a rate of 8%.
If a bank compounds continuous, then the formula becomes simpler, that is A = Pe^rt where e is a constant and equals approximately 2.7183
Now suppose, instead of knowing t, we know that the bank returned to us $25,000 with the bank compounding continuously. Using logarithms, find how long we left the money in the bank (find t).

Question 38155: Please help I am stuck on this one,
Most calculators have 2 different logs on them: log, which is base 10, and ln, which is base e. In computer science, digital computers are based on the binary numbering system which means that there are only 2 numbers available to the computer, 0 and 1. When a computer scientist needs a logarithm, he needs a log to base 2 which is not on any calculator. To find the log of a number to any base, we can use a conversion formula as shown here:
log ^ (b)a =log a/log b
Using this formula, find log ^ (2) 1000 .

Question 38270: Can you please help me with this problem the directions say **Multiply, then simplify each expression
The Expression: x(2x-3)(x+4)
So far i have (2x^-3x)(x+4) but i'm not sure if i did the correct steps. x(2x-3)(x+4) x times 2x wich is 3x then x times 3= 3x-3x(x+4) ok than you do inside then () and that gets you 4x 3x-3x(4x) 3x-3x=0 so your answer is 4x

Question 38390: Please help me with these four questions in the review section.
Find the value of v in each equation.
18. log(27) 3=v
20. log(4) 1/16=v
Write each expression as a single logarithm. Then simplify, if possible
24. log(5) 3 + log(5) 6 + log(5)
25. log 6 - log 3 + 2 log 7
Note: (number in para is the base)

Question 39102: the previous question i addressed may not have been interpreted corrected because ya can't superscript or subscript on this page, the question was
" log a (xy) = 3 and log a (x2y3) = 4" where a is the base... in the second bracket it is x sqaured and y cubed. sorry about that

Question 39101: hey, i have an query about this question on my maths b assignment. It states:
If log a (xy) =3 and log a (x2y3) = 4, determine (where a is the base):
a) the values of x and y in terms of a, using positive indices.
b) an equation of x in terms of y
this question has me completely stumped, any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Question 39231: for the function
'e^2x = e^x + 2',
could you please explain how there is only one real answer?
We have to explain, using a graph where the functions
'y = e^2x' and 'y = e^x +2'
are sketched on the same set of axes, why this is so. Thanks alot :)

What is the derivative
I need this for work ASAP.
What is the derivative
d/dx( f(x) ^ g(x) )
where ^ is the sign of EXPONENTIATION and f and g are function of x.
Please NOTE AGAIN that I am not talking about a compound function, I am talking about one function taken TO THE DEGREE of another.
