Question 154514: This one's killing me...
In 1980, there were about 168 million vehicles and about 233 million people in the United States. The number of vehicles has been growing at 4% a year, while the population has been growing at 1% a year.
(a) Write a formula for the number of vehicles as a function of years since 1980.
I came up with V(t)=168(1.4)^t; which seems to work out via calculator, but is incorrect.
I would greatly appreciate any help!!

Question 154591: The Last problem for the summer
25^(x+2)=5^(3x-4)
I think you take like 5 out and make 5 5
so then its 5x+2=3x-4 then maybe 2x=-2 then divide by two so x is negative one but i think its wrong any help guys?

Here's the question:
A picture that was supposedly painted by Vermeer (1632-1675) contains 99.5% of it's carbon=14. The half life for carbon=14 is 5730 years. Is the picture a fake?
I know the formula to use is(first, Q_0 = Q-naught) Q=Q_0e^-k5730. And I know Q should equal 1/2, but I can't seem to put it all together. Please help!

Question 154855: I know that the number 243 is in exponential notation.
3^5 = 3·3·3·3·3 in exponential notation. I know this because there are calculators to tell me this. But HOW would I find this exponent without a calculator?
