Question 152190: I'm drowning in Logs & Inverses: My question states:
Determine if this is a one-to-one. If yes, find the formula for the inverse.
f(x) = (5x+4)/(7x+6)
I have listed it as a one-to-one and have written the following:
Changed f(x) to "y"
y =(5x+4)/(7x+6)
Then substituted "x" for "y" to get
x = (5y+4)/(7y+6)
My problem is that I don't know how to write the inverse.

Question 153160: Hi
How would I solve the following: Exponent and logarithm as function of power
True or false: The function "f(x) = 3x" grows three times faster than the function "g(x) = x". Explain. I got two different answer when I tried to solve this logarithm. Can you please help me.
Answer: False.
If x = 3 it would make f(3)=3 * 3 =9 and g(3)=3
If x = 4 then f(4)=12 and g(4)=4
if x=5 then f(5)=15 and g(5)=5
although f(x) is 3 times greater than g(x) the growth of f(x) is not 3 times faster than g(x) because from 9 the change of f(x) is only 3 and from 12 it only changed by 3 again. wherein it should have incurred a change of 9. If f(x) grows three times faster than g(x) the equation should be f(x)=x raise to the 3rd power and g(x)=x.

Answer is True
The question is on rate of growth, ie slope.
slope of g(x) is 1.
slope of f(x) is 3.

Question 153207This question is from textbook elementary and intermediate algebra
: A) Write the sentence (-x)2 is not equal to -x2 in words. In your own words explain why (-x)2 and -x2 are not equivalent. Provide an example to support your explanation. B) Evaluate (a) 3x0 and (b) (3x)0 when x is not 0. Are the results different? If so, explain in your own words why they are different. If not, then state so.
A student writes down the following as part of her response: a ) 3(to the 2nd power) times 3(to the 3rd power) = 729. and b) 3(to the negative 2nd power) = -9. Are her answers correct? If not, explain why you think her answers are incorrect. Include in your explanation what she did wrong, if any. What would you advise her to do instead?
i hope this makes sense to you...the way i typed it. please let me know if you need additional info. It is the chapter on Laws/Types of Exponents. Thank you thank you thank you
