Question 713661: I need help with a Calculus I question:
If a ball is thrown into the air with a velocity of 37 ft/s, its height (in feet) after t seconds is given by y = 37t − 16t2. Find the velocity when t = 1.

Answer by htmentor(1343)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y(t) = 37t - 16t^2
The velocity is the time rate of change of the height:
v(t) = dy(t)/dt = 37 - 32t
We want the value of v when t=1:
v(1) = 37 - 32*1 = 5
Ans: 5 ft/s
