You can
put this solution on YOUR website!y=x^2-2x-3
Interchange x and y to get:
y^2-2y=x+3
Complete the square to get:
y^2-2y+1=x+4
(y-1)^2=x+4
y-1=sqrt(x+4) or y-1=-sqrt(x+4)
y=1+sqrt(x+4) or y=1-sqrt(x+4)
This is the inverse. It is expressed as
two functions because for each x-value
greater than or equal to -4 there are two
y values.
