A radioactive isotope is produced, it takes 20 minutes to double the existing amount of the isotope. write an equation for the number of isotopes, n, as a function of time.
thanks.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A radioactive isotope is produced, it takes 20 minutes to double the existing amount of the isotope. write an equation for the number of isotopes, n, as a function of time.
-------------------
Let A(0) mean "the amount of isotope you start with".
Let A(t) mean "the amount of isotope at time t-minutes".
EQUATION:
A(t)=A(0)*(2)^(t/20)
This will multiply the the amount you start with by
2 every 20 seconds.
Cheers,
Stan H.
