-3x^(1/2)+(4x)^(1/2)= -1
-3x^(1/2)+2x^(1/2)=-1
You have "like" terms on the left side so add them to get:
-x^(1/2)=-1
Multiply both sides by -1 to get:
x^(1/2)=1
Square both sides to get:
x=1
