Question 49928: this is about factoring
3x^2+8x+5
how do i factor it??
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x^2+8x+5
You think of two numbers whose product is 3*5=15
and whose sum is 8.
The numbers are 3 and 5
You rewrite the problem as follows:
3x^2+3x+5x+5
You factor terms 1,2 and 3,4 separately, as follows:
3x(x+1)+5(x+1)
Factor again to get:
(x+1)(3x+5)
This the factor form you need.
Cheers,
Stan H.
