This problem is NOT stated properly!
"Solve" implies an equation, this is an expression.
Replace "solve" with "simplify".
Then there is the issue of "(3k to the 4th power) which we will assume is "(3(k to the 4th))" rather than "((3k) to the 4th)".
If hand written it would be clearer (price we pay for keyboard).
Key rule: The outer 4th power multiplies every exponent inside its ().
It would be more complex if there was more than one term in the (), so don't blindly apply this rule in those cases.
