Question 47100: solve the logarithmic equation. be sure to reject any value of x that produces the logarithm of a negative number or the logarithm of 0
log2(x+2)=1 + log2 (x-5)
Answer by venca(1) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
first we can rewrite 1 as log2(2), so we will have an equation:
log2(x+2) = log2(2) + log2(x-5)
log2(x+2) = log2(2x-10), so we will recieve an equation
x+2 = 2x-10
x = 12
conditions: x+2 > 0 => x > -2 & x-5 > 0 => x > 5, so x must be grater than 5
12 > 5, so it is correct solution
