Answer by mathchemprofessor(65)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
ln(x+5)-ln3=ln(x-3)
Using quotient property in ln,
ln((x+5)/3)=ln(x-3)
(x+5)/3=x-3
x+5=3(x-3)
x+5=3x-9
5+9=3x-x
14=2x
x=7

Solve the equation ln(x + 5) - ln(3)=ln(x-3).
Using the log laws rewrite the problem as follows:
ln[(x+5)/3]=ln(x-3)
Take the anti-log of both sides to get:
(x+5)/3 = x-3
x+5=3x-9
2x=14
x=7
