Using common logs, base 10:
(x-1)*log(10) = (x+1)*log(e)
x - 1 = (x+1)*log(e) = x*log(e) + log(e)
x - x*log(e) = log(e) + 1
x(1 - log(e)) = log(e) + 1
x = (log(e) + 1)/(1 - log(e))
x =~ 2.5354
