take the log of both sides and then use the power rule, before solving...we get
log(5^(2x+1)) ≥ log 50
(2x+1)*log 5 ≥ log 50
2x + 1 ≥ log 50 / log 5
2x ≥ (log 50 / log 5) - 1
x ≥ [(log 50 / log 5) - 1] / 2
or
x ≥ .7153
