Question 375929: Find the points where y=-2x-2 intersects with parabola y=.5x^2
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=-2x-2 intersects with parabola y=.5x^2
...
-2x-2 = 1/2 * x^2
..
multiply by 2
2(-2x-2)=2*x^2/2
-4x-4 = x^2
reorganize
x^2+4x+4=0
(x+2)^2=0
square root
x+2=0
x=-2.
y = -2x-2
plug value of x
y=4-2
y=2
Itintersects at (-2,2,)
