Question 35695: Sam lives on a lot that the thought was a square, 157 feet by 157 feet. When he had it surveyed, he discovered that one side was actually 2 feet longer that he thought and the other side was actually 2 feet shorter that he thought. How much less area does he have than he thought he had?
Answer by Nate(3500)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For this, you would take this idea:
area of original thought - area of actual lot = difference of the area
(157*157) - (159*155) = difference
24649 - 24645 = 4 feet
He had a whopping 4 feet less than he thought he originally had.
