Question 35323: i am so confused i cant understand how to start or finish this problem log(5)625
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A logarithm simply means "What power do you have to raise a number by to get a certain result."
For example, if you asked for , you are asking, "What power do I have to raise 10 to in order to get 100?" The answer is obviously 2, since .
In your case, you are asking so you are asking, "What power would you have to raise 5 to in order to get 625? I think the answer would be 4, right?? So the final answer is 4, and logarithms are not nearly as hard as you thought they were!! See my lesson plans in algebra.com, especially the ones that it says, "In Living Color" explaining logarithms.
