There are two methods:

Method 1:  Long division:

               x + 6
4x - 1)4x² + 23x - 6
       4x² -   x
             24x - 6
             24x - 6
                   0  
-----------------------------------

Method 2:  Factoring and canceling









Either way the answer is 

x + 6
