Question 283117: A 5000g sample of Iodine-131 decayed into 312.5 grams in 2.025 days. What is the half-life of Iodine-131?
Answer by Greenfinch(383)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5000/312.5 = 16 so it has decayed to 1/16 of the original. 16 is 2^4, so 4 half-lives.
2.025 days = 2916 minutes. So 1 half-life is 729 minutes or 12 hours 9 minutes
