Question 280008: 5(1+e^x/3)=8.2
What does x equal?
Answer by nabla(475) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Manipulate to isolate e^x.
5(1+e^x/3)=8.2
1+e^x/3=8.2/5=41/25
e^x/3=41/25 - 25/25
e^x=3*16/25=48/25
Now, we get rid of e by taking the natural logarithm of both sides of the equation.
ln(e^x)=ln(48/25)
By definition this is the same as:
x=ln(48/25)
And, using a calculator we find that x is approximately 0.652325
