log_16 (n) = -1/2 becomes 16^(-1/2) = n.
You need to apply the log rules to these problems or else logs will not make sense.
16 to the -1/2 is the same thing as 1/16^(1/2). Here I applied the rules for negative exponents.
1/16^(1/2) = 1/(square root of 16) and this is equated to n.
Final answer: 1/4 = n
