Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
what is log (1/4) to the base 2?
--------------
This is the same as the question, "To what power do I raise 2 to get 1/4?"
2^x = 1/4
The short solution is to notice that 2^2 = 4, so the inverse of 4, 1/4, is 2 to the negative exponent, or 2^(-2).
So the log is -2.
