Question 133316: Use logs ( any base) to find the unknown:
3 to the power of x^2 minus 2x = 3 to the power of x-2 ( there are two answers please find both)

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 to the power of x^2 minus 2x = 3 to the power of x-2
-----------------
3^(x^2-2x) = 3^(x-2)
----------------------
Take the log(base3) of both sides to get:
x^2-2x = x-2
x^2-3x+2 = 0
(x-2)(x-1) = 0
x = 2 or x=1
