Let me guess, that you have log(4,(x^2-6x))=2, or as rendered, log%284%2C%28x%5E2-6x%29%29=2. If it is this, then your first step is wrong.

Put into exponential form, using base of 4:

4%5E2=x%5E2-6x
and then
x%5E2-6x=16
x%5E2-6x-16=0, and you can try solving this quadratic equation.

x%5E2+-+6x+=+4%5E2 ------- Converting to EXPONENTIAL form, or converting from: matrix%281%2C3%2C+log+%28a%2C+b%29+=+c%2C+to%2C+b+=+a%5Ec%29

x%5E2+-+6x+-+16+=+0 ------ Subtracting - 42, or - 16 from both sides

(x - 8)(x + 2) = 0
